BNP Associates, working with HOK, redesigned the southeast curbside conveyors and Delta Dash package handling systems to make room for new canopy supports being added as part of the L-MOD program.
These supports would have interfered with existing curbside and Delta Dash operations, which also included the installation of two motor control panels to replace existing panels inside the bagroom. BNP redesigned the curbside, Delta Dash, and the panel replacement to ensure that the installation would not disrupt daily curbside or ticketing services. As part of the design effort, we also designed the expansion of a new full-service curbside system for Delta, which was affected by the changes.
The project included building backup curbside bag drop areas and adding two more drop points. The systems were rewired so that service could continue without interruption. Finally, a new manual input station was added on the lower southwest curbside to act as a backup in case of a conveyor system outage.
