쓰촨성 공항 그룹과 BNP, 오랜 협력 지속

For more than 15 years, BNP Associates has proudly served as a trusted design partner for Sichuan Province Airport Group, contributing to the growth and modernization of two of Western China’s most important aviation hubs: Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU) and Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU). This enduring partnership has played a key role in advancing the baggage handling system (BHS) infrastructure that supports the region’s rapidly expanding air travel demands.

In 2022, BNP was engaged to design and implement a comprehensive upgrade to the Terminal 1 BHS. As one of China’s busiest airports, CTU faced the challenge of modernizing its BHS within limited space and resource constraints. To address these unique conditions, BNP collaborated closely with Vanderlande to deliver an innovative design solution not yet commonly applied in baggage handling systems: an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV)-based system.

The AGV approach provided an ideal solution for the site’s operational challenges, offering greater flexibility within the airport’s restricted footprint while optimizing resource use and maintaining high system performance. By integrating autonomous, self-guided vehicles into the baggage transfer process, the design minimizes the need for extensive fixed conveyors, creating an adaptive and space-efficient system.

The success of this project further underscores the strong working relationship between Sichuan Province Airport Group and BNP. Reflecting on the project, the client shared: “This is yet another signature project in collaboration with BNP, perfectly embodying the power of innovation and trust.”
