Visión general
The North Platte New Regional Airport (LBF) Terminal Expansion Project in Nebraska aims to revitalize infrastructure and enhance operational efficiency. The current terminal, built in 1952, is outdated and too small to meet current and future needs. It lacks space and amenities, reflecting an era before modern air travel standards.
This project proposes improvements to infrastructure and compliance with the latest aviation regulations (i.e., PGDS). With a focus on improving the passenger experience, ensuring security, and accommodating future growth, the project is expected to have a positive economic impact and elevate the airport’s attractiveness.
Project Scope
BNP is collaborating with LBF stakeholders on:
- Constructing a new terminal building
- Installing modern ticketing equipment
- Installing a new TSA screening area with future expandability for additional screening machines
- A new baggage make-up facility
- Implementing a new inbound claim device to streamline baggage handling operations
Baggage Handling System
The new Baggage Handling System represents a comprehensive upgrade, featuring a streamlined process to enhance efficiency. Central to this system is a single back-wall ticket counter setup, facilitating seamless baggage transportation to a stand-alone Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) screening area.
Once cleared by TSA, checked bags will seamlessly transfer to a newly installed flat plate make-up carousel within the make-up facility. This advanced system ensures efficient baggage handling, maximizes storage in a compact space, and keeps the entire make-up process within the terminal, fully protected from the elements.
Passenger Experience Enhancement
To further enhance the passenger experience, a new flat plate claim device has been added at the opposite end of the ticketing hall. This upgrade improves service levels by streamlining baggage retrieval through automation, making the process faster, more convenient, and more efficient for travelers.
